8 PhD Programs in Archival Science 2023
The PhD is a doctoral degree, specifically called a "doctor of philosophy" degree. This is misleading because PhD holders are not necessarily philosophers (unless they earned their degree in philosophy!). That said, PhD recipients are able to engage in thought experiments, reason about problems, and solve problems in sophisticated ways.
A degree in Archival Studies will focus on obtaining the knowledge and skills expected of an archivist in order to be able to provide historical archives with expert guidance.A Masters degree in Archival Studies you can contribute to museums, historic sites, or businesses which benefit from these studies. Archival Studies is a great compliment to an educational background in history.
