The PhD is a doctoral degree, specifically called a "doctor of philosophy" degree. This is misleading because PhD holders are not necessarily philosophers (unless they earned their degree in philosophy!). Economic development is the study of national economies and how countries can improve the economic and social well-being of its citizens. Students can learn economic theories and how to apply these ideas to the modern world.

Candidates are expected to present a thesis of no more than 55,000 words for the MPhil, while for the PhD the maximum length is 100,000 words.... [-]
